When trying to get your website out there it's really important that you not only promote your website but share your individual items to as many platforms as you can! One of them being Pinterest!
With our websites you can share your items directly from your website to Pinterest in a matter of seconds, and it's super easy too! Read on as I explain how you can easily share your items to Pinterest once you've added them to your website.
Pinterest is an image sharing platform and search engine designed to enable saving and discovery of information on the internet, using images and videos.
Pinterest has 320 million active monthly users, on that basis alone you should be wanting to get a piece of that pie! Some other interesting facts about Pinterest:
Pinterest is indexed in Google
In the same way it does the items on your website. Indexing simply means when a webpage has been visited by Googles crawler (basically a bot) analyzed for content and meaning, and stored in the Google index. This mea meaning adding your items to Pinterest can also benefit your Google rankings.
9 out of 10 Pinterest users say that its full of positivity
Whereas some social media platforms have been labeled volatile and/or pretentious, 9 out of 10 Pinterest users have said that Pinterest remains a platform filled with positive and useful content.
14.2 minutes is the average time spent on Pinterest
And that's only increasing by the day, this means you now have longer to capture your audiences attention and reel them in, so make sure those images are super slick and eye catching
80% of users view Pinterest on their mobile
This stat isn't really surprising but this is a massive amount of people. Being able to put yourself in front of someone who is scrolling through house inspiration on the train ride home, or having a quick scroll while they have a cuppa is a powerful position to be in, with our society becoming ever convenience focused. You can put yourself in a position to make sales in minutes especially if you make it super easy for people to contact you and buy the item.
First things first... You'll need one of our fantastic off the shelf websites. They come with social media integration as standard, including Pinterest. Then what you'll need to do is to add your item to your website and you would do this as you normally would, inputting the name, price description and picture of your item. Then you click the 'Share on social media' button as you will see in the screenshot below.
You'll now be presented with a pop up box, where you can change the image size before your item is shared to Pinterest. The purpose of this, is so that when your item uploads to Pinterest the image is the perfect size for the website.
This is important because Pinterest prioritises pins (what Pinterest calls posts) with images that are sized correctly for the website, and with 320 million monthly users, you'll be wanting to get your goods out there! You can read about this a little more here
The website will then redirect you to Pinterest, where it will ask you what board (Pinterests name for a category) you'd like to post your pin to. All of the boards you've created will appear next to your picture, so you simply select a board and Et Voila! Your Pin will be uploaded to Pinterest ready for people to find.
Pinterest users often use the platform to research a purchase, which puts Antique dealers in an advantageous position to be able to put their stock in front of people researching similar pieces to what they sell!
We always recommend using social channels, especially the likes of Pinterest because it's actually a search engine in itself and it can be really beneficial to help with your SEO and can get you found not only on Pinterest but on search engines, such as Google & Bing.
